Is there a way to approximate each QML algorithm for speed-ups?
Hi @kevinkawchak ,
Most QML algorithms are slower than classical ML algorithms. I encourage you to read our blog post on benchmarking near-term quantum algorithms where our team shows that even simple classical models are usually better than quantum ones. It aligns very well with Maria Schuld’s vision on why measuring performance is our biggest blind spot in quantum machine learning. Quantum machine learning still has a lot of room for research and it probably makes sense to stop looking for speedup improvements in applications where classical methods are already good.
