Polarization and OAM

Hello,

I’ve been looking at the gates with Mr Mustard and I was wondering how changes in polarizations can be can be done or see if there was any guidance on how to apply orbital angular momentum for a light beam

Hi @apple_jay ,

Mr Mustard is not written in the “language” of polarization.

I think you may find some information online that helps you understand light polarization in terms of gates such as Beam splitter, MZ interferometer, squeezer, displacement, phase rotation. Unfortunately I don’t have any information on what the conversion would be though.

I’m sorry I don’t have more info.

I see, thank for the info on the gates and language

For a second question, Strawberry Fields had a bosonic backend to be able to displace focks states at higher positions without them distorting, do you happen to know if there’s something similar that Mr Mustard has? I saw there’s a DEFAULT_FOCK_SIZE that we can update but that would be similar to the cutoff in Strawberry fields that would run into limits that the bosonic backend was addressing?

Thanks again for any insight you might be able to provide!

Hi @apple_jay ,

I don’t think there’s any equivalent to Strawberry Field’s bosonic backend unfortunately, so you are indeed going to be limited by a cutoff.

Gotcha, thanks for the heads up!

No problem @apple_jay . Thanks for understanding.
