Dear Xanadu Team,
I’m a graduate student from Peking University currently conducting research in continuous-variable (CV) quantum metrology. As part of my current work, I’m investigating phase estimation protocols using coherent or vacuum states and designing Gaussian quantum circuits involving displacement and rotation gates to measure an unknown phase shift (θ) with high precision.
I am very interested in running these CV circuits on Xanadu’s X8 photonic hardware to benchmark my simulation results with real experimental data. Although I understand the X8 device is limited in scale, it would still be valuable for validating low-photon-number protocols and gaining hands-on experience with CV hardware.
I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to access the X8 device through the Xanadu Cloud. Please let me know if there are any additional steps or information required.
Thank you very much for your support!
Best regards,

Hi @Ningxin , welcome to the Forum!
Thanks for reaching out. Your research sounds exciting!
Can you please send us an email to request access?
You can share the same info that you shared here in this post.
If you have any trouble using X8, or if we take more than one week to respond, please feel free to reach out here again.
Best of luck with your research!
Dear Xanadu Team,
Thank you for your prompt response on the forum and your interest in my research. As requested, I’m writing to formally request access to the X8 photonic hardware via the Xanadu Cloud platform.
Research Overview:
I am a graduate student at Peking University specializing in continuous-variable (CV) quantum metrology. My current work focuses on phase estimation protocols using coherent/vacuum states and designing Gaussian circuits (comprising displacement and rotation gates) to measure unknown phase shifts (θ) with high precision. Access to the X8 device would enable me to:
- Benchmark simulation results against experimental data,
- Validate low-photon-number protocols within hardware constraints,
- Gain hands-on experience with real CV quantum hardware.
I understand the X8’s scale limitations and believe it is ideal for testing foundational CV protocols. Experimental validation would significantly enhance the impact of my research.
Request Details:
I seek permission to run Gaussian circuits (e.g., displacement-rotation networks) for phase estimation tasks. All experiments will comply with X8’s operational guidelines.
Thank you for considering my request. I am happy to provide additional technical details, project timelines, or documentation if needed. I look forward to your guidance on the next steps.
Best regards,
Ningxin Kong
