Citation of PennyLane

I was curious as to how citation would be done with PennyLane on a research paper. If I was getting equations from the codebook or say the article “Linear combination of unitaries and block encodings”, is there any built-in feature for citation?

I did find one article on PennyLane saying

How to cite

If you are doing research using PennyLane, please cite

Ville Bergholm et al. PennyLane: Automatic differentiation of hybrid quantum-classical computations. 2018. arXiv:1811.04968

Is this still the most up to date way to cite PennyLane?

Hi @Classy,

Thank you for citing PennyLane!

We have different citations for the PennyLane Codebook, the PennyLane library, and the PennyLane demos. I believe the article you’re referring to is the demo that I add in the image below.

  1. If you’re citing a PennyLane demo you can copy the citation on the right-hand menu of the demo (at the bottom right where it says Copy BibTex citation). You can change it to a different citation format, but keeping the same information. For the demo you mentioned this is the BibTex citation:

@misc{JuanMiguelArrazola2023,
title = “Linear combination of unitaries and block encodings”,
author = “Juan Miguel Arrazola and Diego Guala and Jay Soni”,
year = “2023”,
month = “10”,
journal = “PennyLane Demos”,
publisher = “Xanadu”,
howpublished = “\url{Linear combination of unitaries and block encodings | PennyLane Demos}”,
note = “Date Accessed: 2025-04-04”
}

  1. If you’re using the PennyLane Codebook you can use the following citation:

C. Albornoz, G. Alonso, M. Andrenkov, P. Angara, A. Asadi, A. Ballon, S. Bapat, L. Botelho, I. De Vlugt, O. Di Matteo, P. Downing, P. Finlay, A. Fumagalli, A. Gardhouse, J. Geoffrion, N. Girard, A. Hayes, J. Izaac, R. Janik, T. Kalajdzievski, A. Kanwar Singh, A. Khomchenko, N. Killoran, I. Kurečić, O. Landon-Cardinal, A. Martin, D. Nino, A. Otto, C. Pere, J. Pickering, K. Renaud, J. Soni, D. Wakeham, L. Young. PennyLane Codebook. 2024. https://pennylane.ai/codebook

  1. If you’re using the PennyLane library you can cite it with the citation that you found already:

Ville Bergholm et al. PennyLane: Automatic differentiation of hybrid quantum-classical computations. 2018. arXiv:1811.04968

I hope this helps!
